Supreme Judicial Court amends electronic court rules for Kennebec and Somerset counties

The Supreme Judicial Court has adopted amendments to the Maine Rules of Electronic Court Systems (MRECS). These changes will take effect in courts using the Judicial Branch’s electronic filing system, including those in Kennebec and Somerset Counties starting Monday, February 2, 2026. The updated rules govern how documents are filed and accessed in these courts.

According to the announcement, “The Supreme Judicial Court has adopted significant amendments to the Maine Rules of Electronic Court Systems (MRECS). These rules apply in courts using the Judicial Branch’s electronic filing system, including courts in Kennebec and Somerset Counties beginning on Monday, February 2, 2026. The rules govern filing of and access to documents in those courts.”
