A Spanish national, Jose Angel Hidalgo-Torres, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bangor for illegally reentering the United States after a previous removal. U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Hidalgo-Torres, 20, to time served, which amounted to 72 days. He had pleaded guilty on August 12, 2025.
Court records indicate that Hidalgo-Torres was located in Calais, Maine shortly after entering the country unlawfully on July 18, 2025. He had previously been removed from the United States in May 2024. Following his sentencing, he was turned over to immigration authorities.
The investigation into the case was conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol.
