Portland man pleads guilty to firearms offenses in federal court

A Portland man pleaded guilty on Mar. 12 in U.S. District Court in Bangor to two firearms-related offenses.

The case involves serious charges related to false statements and possession of a stolen firearm, highlighting ongoing concerns about illegal gun activity and enforcement efforts.

According to court records, JeisseyKhamis, 19, made false statements regarding his identity, age, and place of birth when attempting to purchase a Glock pistol from a federal firearms licensee in Charleston, Maine, in April 2025. Later that month, Khamis was found with another pistol that he knew had been stolen from the same licensee. The firearm was seized by investigators executing a state search warrant at Khamis’s college dormitory room in Windham.

Khamis faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release for the false statement charge. For the stolen firearm charge, he could receive up to ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release. Sentencing will occur after the U.S. Probation Office completes a presentence investigative report. A federal district court judge will determine the sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case with help from the South Portland and Portland police departments.
