A Mexican national, Isidro Gonzalez-Peleaz, was sentenced to time served in U.S. District Court in Bangor for reentering the United States after being previously removed multiple times. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. Gonzalez-Peleaz had been incarcerated since November 11, 2025.

Court records indicate that in November 2025, a Border Patrol agent encountered Gonzalez-Peleaz and his brother, Alfredo Gonzalez-Peleaz, as they were leaving a jobsite in Calais, Maine. During a field immigration inspection, it was determined that both men were Mexican citizens without legal documentation to be present in the United States. Further review showed that Isidro Gonzalez-Peleaz had been deported from the country on four previous occasions: November 2006 at Brownsville, Texas; December 2012 and March 2013 at Calexico, California; and August 2018 at San Luis, Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection conducted the investigation into the case. Alfredo Gonzalez-Peleaz also received a sentence of time served from Judge Woodcock earlier the same day.

The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, which is described as “a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
