A Mexican man, Edgar Mandujano-Aguilar, was sentenced on Mar. 26 in U.S. District Court in Portland for illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed.

Chief U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker gave Mandujano-Aguilar, age 37, a sentence of 12 months in prison following his guilty plea on February 5.

According to court records, Mandujano-Aguilar was encountered by U.S. Border Patrol Agents on November 6, 2025, after he asked the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office for help returning to Mexico. When agents arrived at the sheriff’s office, Mandujano-Aguilar said he was born in Mexico, was not a U.S. citizen and did not have permission to be in the country. Records showed that he had been deported from the United States multiple times before and had also been allowed to voluntarily return to Mexico at least once.

Mandujano-Aguilar has previous convictions for unlawful reentry after removal from the country. The case was investigated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection with help from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to use all Department of Justice resources against illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.
