The Maine Judicial Branch will expand its Maine eCourts system to all case types in Judicial Region 4 on February 2, 2026. This region includes the Kennebec County Unified Criminal Docket, Kennebec County Superior Court, Augusta District Court, Waterville District Court, Somerset County Unified Criminal Docket, Somerset County Superior Court, and Skowhegan District Court.

All civil, family, juvenile, and criminal cases will move from paper filing to electronic filing. Starting February 2, all electronic filers under the Maine Rules of Electronic Court Systems (MRECS) must file documents electronically in these courts. Self-represented litigants who file fewer than six cases a year are not required to use eFiling.

Courts in Region 4 will have intermittent closures from January 21 through January 30 to prepare for this transition. A schedule of closures and emergency procedures is available for those affected during this period.

Attorney filings using ShareFile in Region 4 courts will no longer be accepted after January 29 at 2:00 p.m.

Attorneys and staff new to eFiling are encouraged to review recorded training videos and other resources on the Maine eCourts Trainings and Resources web page. These materials provide guidance on setting up an eFileMaine account and instructions for successful document submission.

Filers are reminded that they must omit or redact nonpublic personal information in electronic documents according to MRECS rules. If information is omitted rather than redacted, it should be included on the Personal Identifying Information (PII) Attachment form (CR-CV-JV-297), which must be uploaded as an attachment with the filing document.

Support for eFiling is available by emailing ecourtshelp@courts.maine.gov or calling (207) 213-2813 Monday through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
