A Kennebunkport man was sentenced on Apr. 9 in U.S. District Court in Portland for possessing child sexual abuse materials.

Chief U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker sentenced Kevin Rockwell, 41, to 20 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Rockwell was also ordered to pay $104,000 in restitution to victims whose images he possessed. He had pleaded guilty on June 10, 2025.

Rockwell will serve an additional consecutive sentence of 18 months for violating his supervised release from a prior federal conviction related to the transportation of child pornography. He previously received an eight-and-a-half-year federal prison sentence for that offense.

According to court records, law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at Rockwell’s residence in Kennebunkport in November 2024 and found a tablet containing numerous image and video files depicting child sexual abuse material involving prepubescent children. Rockwell admitted during an interview that he owned the tablet and acknowledged the files it contained.

The FBI investigated this case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
