An Illinois resident, Massimo Frangella, has entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court in Bangor for sending threatening communications across state lines.
Court documents reveal that Frangella, aged 24, sent seven identical emails to public officials in Maine. The emails contained the subject line “You’re going to die” and included further threats stating: “I’m going to kill you and all of your child raping friends.”
Frangella could face a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment, a fine up to $250,000, and three years of supervised release. Sentencing will occur following the completion of a presentence investigative report by the U.S. Probation Office. A federal district court judge will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors before determining the final sentence.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI with support from Maine Capitol Police.
