The United States District Court for the District of Maine announced on Apr. 17 that it will join fifty-nine other federal district courts in hosting the 2026 Virtual POWER Act event, scheduled for May 20 at 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.

The event aims to highlight the impact of pro bono representation and advocacy in supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. This initiative is part of a broader effort by federal courts across the country to promote legal assistance for those affected by these issues.

There is no fee required to attend the virtual program. The Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar has approved this event for one continuing legal education credit. Attendees seeking CLE credit are instructed to email lindsey_tully@med.uscourts.gov.

Registration is now open for those interested in participating in the program. After registering, participants will receive a link approximately two days before the virtual event.

This coordinated effort reflects an ongoing commitment within the judiciary to address issues faced by victims and survivors through legal support and awareness.
