The United States District Court for the District of Maine will host a naturalization ceremony on April 10 at 11 a.m. in Courtroom 2 of the Margaret Chase Building, located at 202 Harlow Street in Bangor.

The event is significant as it marks the formal admission of approximately 24 new citizens from a diverse group of countries. The Honorable Lance E. Walker will preside over the proceedings and administer the oath of citizenship to individuals originating from Australia, Canada, Columbia, Germany, Greece, Honduras, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

In addition to the official proceedings led by Judge Walker, attendees will hear a performance by the John Bapst High School Chambers Choir. The court has also extended invitations to representatives from Maine’s Congressional delegation.

The ceremony is open to members of the public who wish to attend and witness new citizens take their oath.

This event highlights both the diversity present within Maine’s communities and ongoing efforts by federal courts to welcome new Americans through formal ceremonies.
